“Eye on Jobs” – An Innovative New Career Tool
By Eli Amdur
“Out of mortal imagination comes a dream of something new, something better, something yet to happen in the future.” – Thomas Cahill, Historian and Author
After 75 years navigating my way around this planet, 19 years writing this Career Coach column, publishing my 1,000th article – and reaching all three milestones at exactly the same time (last week) as I also marked the 25th anniversary of starting my independent career coaching practice – I’m excited to tell you about my next new innovation. And how timely is it that I’m launching this new idea – an exclusive monthly future-focused webinar series called “Eye on Jobs” – at this most historic time in our job market’s history! The time and the idea are an ideal fit.
Discovering (last fall, while starting my annual planning for 2022) that I’d be reaching these milestones concurrently, I asked myself – borrowing from Cahill – if there was anything new yet to happen in the world of career coaching. Keep providing high-quality coaching? That’s expected, but not new. Keep writing this column? For sure, but also not new. What, then, could be that something new, something better, something yet to happen?
Or had I run out of new ideas? Perish the thought. Never! Indeed, there will always be something new – and here’s my next one, born of “jubilant turmoil” which – if you’re comfortable with it and confident in it – never fails. Jubilant turmoil has led to every great invention and discovery in the history of humankind, and while I’m not about to bring you something to rival the wheel or the light bulb or pizza, I think I’ve got something here.
What if …?
What if, once a month – after a long day at work – you could kick your shoes off, relax, sit down at your PC, tablet, or phone, and have access to a regular resource – a live webinar of 30-45 minutes? That’s a whole month of job market data, analysis, synthesis, trends, commentary, career overviews, pertinent news, discussions of jobs and occupations of the future (that’s a big one with me, as you know), highlights of important issues, events, and leading thoughts that are shaping the world of work – all in a concentrated half hour. That’s the new idea.
What if you had this by subscription every – say – third Thursday of the month? What if all this content came to you in executive summary form to make you more aware of – and better able to make decisions about – your job and your career? In other words, not just data, but meaning.
What if this put you at 30,000 feet in the air and in the weeds – at the same time?
What if the content contained both the expected, usual stuff and completely unexpected ideas that, if you think about them for a second, you’ll realize they’re as possible as the light bulb, flight, and the internet? (Remember, all three of those innovations were deemed by “experts” in the field to be impossible – not before they happened, but after they had already been developed.)
What if the first one of these webinars would be free? Yes, free! And what if the subscription for the ongoing series would be so surprisingly low that when you see the annual rate, you’d think you might be seeing the monthly rate?
And what if your subscription also brought with it perks, like credits towards full coaching sessions, family referral opportunities, periodic newsletters, and advance registration for other events?
“Eye on Jobs”
Well, that’s not just the idea; it’s the deal. The new series is called “Eye on Jobs” and it will launch on Thursday, July 21, at 7:00 EDT. The objective is for you to have the resource to expand your sphere of awareness, to become more proactive, self-referential, and self-directive. You’ll be more in charge of your career, both present and long-term, and you’ll become a stronger, more competitive candidate – because the more you know, the further you’ll go.
Sign up now!
Attendance for the inaugural webinar (via Zoom) is free and open to all, with no obligation to subscribe to the series. Act now, as registration will end at midnight, July 18. All following installments will be by subscription, details of which will be presented at the first – free – webinar, along with a full listing of all the benefits of the series.
